The Apple Mac series of computers classify their proprietary file types using the type/creator system. While this system may resemble the file extension system used by Windows it is completely different and when one attempts to open Mac files using a Windows application an obvious failure results. The same failure is met when one tries to use a Windows data recovery tool for Mac recovery.
Even if the software designer is able to create a program that will open and operate on Windows it still must be able to recognize proprietary Mac files and navigate the unique Mac OS X hard drive directory system. This system which includes a disk initialization and verification process makes it impossible for any file recovery system to quickly read underlying file data. A working Mac data recovery software program must be able to circumvent the disk verification process so as to directly locate and copy all files stored on that hard drive or any other digital media device connected to the Mac as a universal application.
